[3] Curtis Township was organized in 1881 and named for its first settler E. D.

The population density was 20.2 inhabitants per square mile (7.8/km2).

There were 608 households, out of which 19.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.5% were married couples living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.9% were non-families.

24.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 10.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
