Helena, Ohio

Helena (/ˈhɛlənə/ HEL-ən-ə[5]) is a village in Sandusky County, Ohio, United States.

Helena was laid out in 1871 when the Pittsburgh, Fort Wayne & Chicago Railroad was extended to that point.

[6] The village was named in honor of Helena Thompson, the daughter of a local doctor.

[7] According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.30 square miles (0.78 km2), all land.

27.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

About 11.3% of families and 12.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 28.3% of those under the age of eighteen and none of those 65 or over.
