Hellmut Schnackenburg (27 September 1902 – 15 August 1974)[1] was a German conductor and director of music.
Born in Halle (Saale), Schnackenburg grew up in Altona where he studied music.
[1] At the Cologne Opera he was répétiteur and Kapellmeister as well as music director at the Wuppertaler Bühnen from the 1920s to the 1930s.
After the war, the concerts took place in the Decla cinema in Walle or in the Bremen City Hall.
[4][5] He retired as director of the music school in 1968, succeeded in this function by Hans Joachim Kauffmann [de].
