Helmy Afify Abd El-Bar

General Dr. Helmy Afify Abd El-Bar (13 July 1922 – 24 March 2011) was a highly decorated Egyptian military commander.

[1] He was commissioned from the Military College in June 1942 in an Artillery regiment of the Egyptian Army.

He was aide de camp to General Anwar Sadat between 1954 and 1956.

He was Deputy Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization between 1979 and 1984, and retired from public life after that.

His thesis was on providing Air Defense cover and protection to heavy Field Artillery units in open desert terrain, and combined operations between the two branches.
