Henry Bayly (British Army officer, born 1769)

Lieutenant-General Sir Henry Bayly GCH (1769 – 20 April 1846) was a British Army officer who became Lieutenant Governor of Guernsey.

[2] He died at his home at age 77 in Dover Street, Piccadilly, after a long illness.

[1][5] He was promoted from the half-pay of the 85th Regiment to an ensigncy in the Coldstream Guards on 30 October 1790.

[7] Bayly was appointed ADC to the Prince Regent on 9 February 1811,[10] and was breveted major general on 1 January 1812.

[11] In 1814 he was given command of a brigade composed of three battalions of militia and sent to southern France.
