Founded in 1974, The [1] Luce Scholars Program[1] each year provides stipends and professional placements for eighteen young Americans to live and work in Asia each year.
The program's purpose is to increase awareness of Asia among future leaders in American society.
Those who already have significant experience in Asia or Asian studies are not eligible for the Luce Scholars Program.
After interviews with the foundation's staff, finalists meet with one of three selection panels who choose the eighteen Luce Scholars.
