Henry N. Neufeld

He served as chief scientist of the Israel Ministry of Health and was the founder and director of the Cardiac Clinic at Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer.

Born in Lwowek, Poland on March 13, 1923, Neufeld received his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Vienna in 1948 and completed his residency training there in 1951.

After serving two years in the United States, as a Special Appointee at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and an Honorary Fellow at the University of Minnesota, Neufeld returned to The Chaim Sheba Medical Center to direct the new Heart Institute.

He was Chief Scientist, Ministry of Health, Israel (1962), Professor of Medicine, Tel Aviv University Medical School and Professor of Cardiology, Chaim Sheba Chair of Cardiology, Tel Aviv University Medical School.

Neufeld was also chosen as a life member of the Israeli Academy of Sciences and Humanities in 1984, and in 1985 he received the Israel Prize for Medicine.
