Hierapolis /ˌhaɪəˈræpəlɪs/ (Ancient Greek: Ιεράπολις Ierapolis) or Hieropolis (Ιερόπολις)[1] was a town of the Phrygian Pentapolis in ancient Phrygia, inhabited during Roman and Byzantine times.
