[4] On 15 October 2024, a gunman armed with a handgun opened fire on a police car and other vehicles, near the Yavne Interchange.

Adir Kadosh, a 33-year-old police officer, who was later pronounced dead at Assuta Medical Center in Ashdod.

[6] Another individual sustained minor to moderate injuries from glass shards when his vehicle was targeted.

[4] The gunman was identified as 28-year-old Mohammed Dardouna, a Palestinian from the northern Gaza Strip who had lived in Jabalia and illegally in the West Bank in recent years.

[7][8][9] Israeli far-right politician and Ministry of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, arrived at the scene of the attack and stated that the individual who killed the terrorist had obtained their gun license three months earlier as a result of his weapon reform.
