Horton–Suiter House

The Horton–Suiter House is a historic building located in Le Claire, Iowa, United States.

[1] The property is part of the Houses of Mississippi River Men Thematic Resource, which covers the homes of men from LeClaire who worked on the Mississippi River as riverboat captains, pilots, builders and owners.

[2] The house was possibly built in 1860 for Henry Horton, who was an engineer on raft steamers.

[3] He worked as a mortician to supplement his income during the winter months when the river was frozen.

The house is capped by a low-pitched gable roof with a ridge that parallels the front facade.
