Ian Sloan (born 24 May 1973)[1] is a former Australian politician who served as MP for the Northern Territory Legislative Assembly electoral division of Daly representing the Country Liberal Party from 2020 to 2021.
[1] In January 2020, the then incumbent member for Daly and Leader of the Country Liberal Opposition Gary Higgins announced that, for health reasons, he would retire from politics at the 2020 Northern Territory election.
This vacated the seat, and allowed for Sloan to fill in the gap left by Higgins.
[2] Sloan resigned from the Legislative Assembly on 19 August 2021, citing health and family reasons.
This was the first time in the history of the Northern Territory that a sitting government won a seat from the opposition in a by-election.
