Ilkka Olavi Suominen (8 April 1939 – 23 May 2022)[1] was a Finnish politician from the National Coalition Party.
Suominen was the chairman of the National Coalition Party 1979–1991 and twice the speaker of the parliament 1987 and 1991–1994.
He held the position of minister of trade and industry in Holkeri cabinet 1987–1991.
[3] He was elected as a member of the European Parliament (MEP) for one term between 1999 and 2004 (EPP).
