Ilya Pavlovich Petrushevsky Russian: Илья́ Па́влович Петруше́вский; (10 [22] June 1898 – 18 March 1977) was a Soviet Orientalist, Honored Scientist of the USSR.
In 1926 Petrushevsky graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology of Kharkiv and Baku Universities.
From 1933 to 1936 he taught at the University of Tbilisi where he completed his Candidate of Historical Sciences in 1935.
From 1950 to 1954 and 1961 to 1977 he headed the Department of History of the Middle East countries of the Eastern Faculty.
The works of I. P. Petrushevsky are in demand in the world of Orientalism,[4] some of them have been translated into Persian and English.
