Intimations

Intimations is a 2020 collection of essays by writer Zadie Smith.

[1] The essays discuss topics including creative writing, the pandemic, and the murder of George Floyd.

According to Book Marks, the book received a "positive" consensus, based on twenty-four critic reviews: fourteen "rave", seven "positive", and three "mixed".

[4] On the September/October 2020 issue of Bookmarks, the book received a (4.0 out of 5) with the critical summary saying, "Despite the essays' unevenness, "Smith has taken a mirror and reflected us back to ourselves during the earliest moments of this crisis," concludes NPR.

[5][6] Constance Grady, writing for Vox, referred to Smith's essays about current events as occasionally "facile" and that the collection was best when addressing the nature and utility of writing.
