Ira Flatow (/ˈfleɪtoʊ/; born March 9, 1949) is a radio and television journalist and author who hosts WNYC Studio's popular program Science Friday.

[3] On TV, he hosted the Emmy Award-winning PBS series Newton's Apple, a television science program for children and their families.

[5] He has published several books, the most recent titled Present at the Future: From Evolution to Nanotechnology, Candid and Controversial Conversations on Science and Nature.

[9] In 1966, Flatow began his career in broadcasting working in television at KHD-21 TV at H. Frank Carey High School in Franklin Square, New York.

In 1969, Flatow began working in radio at WBFO, in Buffalo, New York, first as a reporter covering Vietnam anti-war demonstrations and riots and then as news director, 1971.

[3][4] On January 1, 2014, the Science Friday program moved from NPR to PRI (Public Radio International) with Flatow continuing as host.
