Irish Language Association of Australia

The Association also runs a yearly Irish language summer school (Daonscoil Victoria, Gaeltacht Melbourne).

[1] The chief aims of the Association are to encourage people to learn Irish and to create an Irish-speaking community in Australia.

After restrictions were lifted, in-person classes also resumed at a new venue: the Kathleen Syme Library and Community Centre in Carlton.

It was held for many years in January in a forest site close to Bacchus Marsh, and had an average attendance of 50 students, with language classes supplemented by music, dancing and singing.

[3] In January 2018, the Daonscoil resumed after a break, moving to an urban setting at International House, a residential college of the University of Melbourne.
