Irish Women's Citizens Association

[1] The aim of the new society was to “bring together all Irishwomen of all politics and all creeds for the study and practice of good citizenship”.

[4] In 1925 the association began a successful campaign against the Civil Service Regulation (Amendment) Bill.

"[2] The Irish Women's Citizens Association worked with other feminist groups, and through the use of letters to the editor and a circular sent to the Dail, the Civil Service Regulation bill was suspended.

In 1934, the organisation called for the elimination of section 17 of the Irish Criminal Law Amendment Act which prohibited the sale of contraceptives.

[6][7] The group was unsuccessful and the sale of contraceptives in Ireland remained outlawed until the end of the century.
