Irving Township, Michigan

[5] The Thornapple River, a tributary of the Grand River, runs through the southwest corner of the township, and there is a dam operated by the Commonwealth Power Company across it in the unincorporated village of Irving within the township.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 2,682 people, 901 households, and 746 families residing in the township.

There were 931 housing units at an average density of 25.9 per square mile (10.0/km2).

There were 901 households, out of which 42.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.0% were married couples living together, 5.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 17.1% were non-families.

12.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 3.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
