Isabelle Garo (born 5 September 1963), is a French philosopher specialising in the works of Karl Marx.
[1] Garo's research focuses on the works of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, put in their context and broached from both theoretical and political angles.
[3] At the same time, her books analyse the Marxist tradition within the scope of contemporary capitalism and its crisis.
[4][5] She is president of the Grande Edition Marx et Engels (GEME), a project working on the first complete edition of the writings of Marx and Engels in the French language.
[citation needed] In 2012, she announced her support of the Left Front and its candidate, Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
