His works have appeared in Presbyterian, United Methodist, Lutheran, Episcopal, Baptist, and Catholic hymnals.
[5][6] Jones earned his BA from California State University, Los Angeles in 1972, his M.Div.
[3] Jones served as associate minister for Christian education at First Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles from 1979 to 1987.
During the last two years there, he served as associate pastor at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, also in Los Angeles.
From 1999 until his retirement in 2007, he served at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Palo Alto, California[1][2][7] In 2007, Jones was diagnosed with leukemia.
