J. Eugene Gallery

He became a professor of sociology at the University of Scranton, and also worked in child welfare and in arbitrating industrial disputes.

His term came to and end in 1953, and he continued to teach sociology at Saint Joseph's College in Philadelphia.

[1] He also was the director and one of the founders of the university's Institute of Industrial Relations, which had branches in Hazelton, Shenandoah, and Scranton.

Soon after assuming the office, he purchased three surplus Navy barracks, and had them erected on the campus in the fall of 1947, to accommodate the rapid increase in enrollment due to the G.I.

The university's graduate school was established in 1950, awarding degrees in education, business administration, and chemistry.
