Jack Griffiths (rugby union)

Jack Lester Griffiths MC (8 April 1912 – 13 November 2001) was a New Zealand rugby union player.

A utility back who played in every backline position except on the wing, Griffiths represented Wellington at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, from 1934 to 1938.

He later was involved in rugby in an administrative capacity, serving as a Poverty Bay selector, a member of both the Wanganui and Manawatu management committees, and as a New Zealand Rugby Football Union council member from 1961 to 1972.

[1] Griffiths was awarded the Military Cross in 1945 for gallant and distinguished services in Italy,[2] and was mentioned in dispatches.
