Jaime Sunye Neto

Jaime Sunye Neto (born May 2, 1957) is a Brazilian chess player.

In 1979 he was invited to play in the Interzonal in Rio de Janeiro as a second representative of the host nation.

Untitled at the time, he delivered one of the best performances of his career, finishing =fifth overall (tied with Borislav Ivkov) and defeating several grandmasters, including the tournament winner Lajos Portisch.

He assembled a powerful team and won the support of almost all of the chess playing countries of Europe.
