James Augustine McFadden (December 24, 1880 – November 16, 1952) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church.
After finishing college, he started his preparation for the priesthood at St. Mary's Seminary in Wickliffe, Ohio.
[1] He also served as diocesan director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith (1923-1927) and as chancellor of the diocese (1925-1943).
[4][5] On May 14, 1933, McFadden attended an interfaith rally in Cleveland to protest the persecution of Jews in Germany under the Nazi regime.
[6] McFadden was named the first bishop of the new Diocese of Youngstown by Pope Pius XII on June 2, 1943.
