James Holly Hanford

James Holly Hanford (1882–1969) was a professor and author known for his scholarship on John Milton.

His students included Waverley Turner Carmichael, Paul Green[1] and C. A. Patrides.

Princeton University has a collection of his correspondence mostly related to his research of Milton.

He married Hellen Margaret Ellwanger in 1909 and they had three children: Margaret E., Barbara E., and Grace E.[5] A Milton Evening in Honor of James Holly Hanford was published in 1948.
