James Kirtland Edsall (May 10, 1831 – June 19, 1892) was an American lawyer and politician.
He practiced law in Plattsburgh, New York, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and St. Paul, Minnesota.
In 1878, he moved to Chicago, Illinois and continue to practice law after he left office in 1881.
Edsall died of heart failure at his home in Chicago, Illinois.
His son was Samuel Cook Edsall who served as bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota.
