On March 18, 2010, Charouz drove the Renault R29 for the first time in his career during a shakedown at the Silverstone Circuit in Great Britain.
On 16 November 2011, Charouz drove for the HRT F1 Team at the Yas Marina Circuit for the Abu Dhabi young drivers' test.
