After working for the Central Bank of Jordan in the 1960s and 1970s he held high ranking positions in the civil service.
From June 2016 until January 2017 he was Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs in the cabinets of Hani Al-Mulki.
[3][4] His father had various jobs, including working as an English language teacher, radio presenter, historian, writer and playwright.
[5] Anani went to the United States to study engineering at the University of Southern California (USC).
Anani thus moved to Egypt and studied at Cairo University and obtained his bachelor's degree there in 1967.
In 1977 he also started working for the Ministry of Labour as Under-Secretary, he was Director of Social Security until 1979.
[5] In 1993 he was appointed to the management board of the failing Petra Bank, where he helped cut losses.
[12] Anani has been appointed a member of the Senate several times, most recently in 2013, when he stepped down as President of the Social and Economic Council.
