Jarrid "Jay" Collins (born April 28, 1976)[1] is an American politician and Army combat veteran currently serving as a member of the Florida Senate from the 14th district, representing northwestern Hillsborough County, including large parts of Tampa.
On November 18th 2024, the Floridian Press reported that Senator Collins was considered as a possible replacement for outgoing U.S.
During his 2007 Afghanistan deployment, Collins was hit in the arm, continued fighting, and later helped perform surgery on himself in the field of battle.
Collins would overcome his chronic injuries to be selected for retention in the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, but ultimately had to have his leg amputated due to the severity of his condition.
Following his amputation, Collins requalified as a fully deployable Green Beret and served over five more years on active duty.
