After the demise of the CISL he signed with Detroit Rockers of the National Professional Soccer League.
[1] In 2003, he returned to Canada to sign with London City of the Canadian Professional Soccer League.
The following year Hodgson created the Windsor Border Stars franchise to compete in the Canadian Professional Soccer League.
[3] His first managerial job was as assistant coach for Western Michigan University men's soccer team.
On February 4, 2010 he was appointed the head coach for Madonna University women's soccer team.
