A 6'10" power forward/center, he played in the NBA from 1998 to 2007 for the Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, and Denver Nuggets.

McCoy was suspended in late September 1997 for violating "unspecified" team rules but reinstated three months later.

[2][3] He was part of the Los Angeles Lakers team that won the 2002 NBA Finals, but he was injured most of the season and was not on their playoff roster.

[5] After averaging 8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3.5 assists in two games with the D-League's Los Angeles D-Fenders, McCoy was signed during the 2007-08 season in late November 2007 by the Nuggets to fill their depleted frontcourt after players Kenyon Martin, Nenê and Steven Hunter were unavailable due to injuries.
