Jim Beck (politician)

In August 2017, Beck announced he would run to replace Ralph Hudgens as the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner of Georgia.

[2] He was suspended by Governor Brian Kemp in 2019 pending an investigation into allegations of illegal activity committed prior to his taking office.

He was succeeded officially by John King, whom Kemp appointed on an interim basis in 2019 pending the outcome of Beck's investigation.

Beck's first role in public service was as Deputy Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner for the State of Georgia.

[2] On May 14, 2019, while Insurance Commissioner, a federal grand jury indicted Beck for fraud, as he was alleged to have embezzled more than $2 million from the Georgia Underwriting Association from February 2013 through August 2018.
