She was the mother of Maud Green, and therefore the maternal grandmother of Katherine Parr the sixth wife of King Henry VIII of England.

Jane was born on around 1469 in Ashford, Kent, England as the daughter of Sir John Fogge although her parentage is uncertain.

[2][3][4][5] However, in her biography on Katherine, Linda Porter states that 'Maud Green came from good Yorkist stock.

[6] Sir John Fogge's will, transcribed by Pearman, states that he had three daughters, Anne, Elizabeth and Margaret, and makes no mention of Jane.

Although it is mostly agreed upon that Joan was the daughter of Sir John Fogge, and his second wife Alice Haute, her parentage remains uncertain.
