Joel B. Vowell is a United States Army lieutenant general who has served as the deputy commanding general of United States Army Pacific since September 30, 2024.

[1] He most recently served as the commanding general of Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve from 2023 to 2024.

[5] Major General Joel “JB” Vowell grew up in a military family and received his commission as an infantry officer upon graduation from The University of Alabama in 1991.

During his career, he has been stationed in Europe, the Pacific, and many posts across the United States.

He recently commanded the 3rd Brigade Combat Team ("Rakkasans") of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
