[1] Stålbom was born in the former town of Karis (now Raseborg), Finland.

[2] From the 1740s, he worked and lived mainly in Östergötland, later in his estate Orräng in Grebo, Sweden.

The Linköping Diocese library shows a few portraits he has painted.

In the best of his works is displayed skillful drawing, and strong, but not sophisticated colors.

[2] Johan Stålbom married around 1757 with Susanna Beata Hammardahl.
