Johanna Charlotte Unzer

Johanna Charlotte Unzer (née Ziegler) (17 November 1724 in Halle an der Saale — 29 January 1782 in Altona, Hamburg), was a German writer and philosopher, famed for her progressive views on women's education.

[1][2] Johanna Charlotte Ziegler was born in Halle an der Saale, a university town and center for pietism.

She was educated at home with a series of tutors, mainly students of her father or her uncle, Johann Gottlob Krüger, a professor of medicine.

Unzer became an honorary member of two literary societies, the Deutsche Gesellschaften of Göttingen and Helmstedt.
