John A. Tully [BA (Utas), DipEd (Utas); MA (Monash), PhD (Monash)] is an Honorary Professor in the College of Arts and Education at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia.
Tully is a socialist and was an active trade unionist during the many years he worked as a rigger in construction and heavy industry before gaining his doctorate and becoming an academic.
He was born on Tyneside in northern England in 1947 and is descended from English and Irish forebears.
