John F. Schindler (1931–2014) was a botanist with a bachelor's and a master's degree from Michigan State University.
[1] Schindler was the Assistant Director at the Naval Arctic Research Laboratory (NARL) from 1960 to 1971, under Max C. Brewer, and then took over as the Director from 1971 to 1974.
[2] Schindler was also a prolific photographic documentarian of life and the people at NARL.
