During the season, Fassel had three special teams players (K Sebastian Janikowski, P Shane Lechler, and LS Jon Condo) selected to the 2012 Pro Bowl.

During his tenure in Dallas, Fassel aided in the development of kicker Brandon Aubrey, who earned multiple Pro Bowl honors in 2023 and 2024 as well as being named All-Pro in the latter.
