John Otis (Maine politician)

John Otis (August 3, 1801 – October 17, 1856) was a U.S. Representative from Maine.

Born in Leeds, Massachusetts (now in Maine), Otis attended the common schools, and graduated from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine, in 1823.

He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Hallowell, Maine, in 1826.

He served as member of the State House of Representatives in 1841.

He was appointed a member of the Northeastern Boundary Commission in 1842.
