John T. Knox

John Theryll Knox (September 30, 1924 – April 3, 2017) was an American politician and lawyer.

He served in the California State Assembly[1] for the 11th district and as Speaker Pro Tempore.

He served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II.

During this time, he championed major legislation such as the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

[4] A portion of Interstate 580 running through Richmond is called the John T. Knox Freeway.
