John Valentine Downey (February 14, 1895 – March 1, 1960) was an American lawyer and politician from New York.
Downey was a member of the New York State Assembly (Queens Co., 3rd D.) in 1937, 1938, 1939–40, 1941–42 and 1943.
He was re-elected in 1944, and remained in the Senate until 1946, sitting in the 165th New York State Legislature.
In December 1951, he was appointed to the New York City Municipal Court, to fill a vacancy.
