John W. Gaines

John Wesley Gaines (August 24, 1860 – July 4, 1926) was an American politician and a member of the United States House of Representatives for the 6th congressional district of Tennessee.

[1] He attended private and public schools, in which he also taught.

He graduated from the Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee in 1882.

He never practiced medicine, but the day after graduation he resumed the study of law.

On July 4, 1926 (age 65 years, 314 days), Gaines died in Nashville.
