At the turn of the 1960s and 1970s, Jolanta Szota was one of Poland's leading chess players.
She made her first start in the final of the Polish Women's Chess Championship in 1962 in Grudziądz.
After she married Gunnar Dahlin, she emigrated to Sweden and settled in Gothenburg, where she worked in a company trading with Eastern European countries.
