He is a British [Orthodox] rabbi who previously served at Radlett Synagogue in Hertfordshire, England.
[2] Previously an associate rabbi at Hendon United Synagogue, he is a law graduate and a former Reading Football Club player.
In May 2022, Hughes was appointed Jewish Chaplain at Harrow School and in 2023 was appointed Jewish Tutor at Eton College.
In May 2023, he left the rabbinate to found and become CEO of The Abraham Effect, an organisation that works with British schools to support Jewish students and ensure Jewish continuity.
