Jonathan Schooler, (born August 3, 1959) is an American psychologist and Distinguished Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of California, Santa Barbara, who researches various topics that intersect aspects of both cognitive psychology and philosophy such as: Belief in free will, Meta-awareness,[1] Mindfulness,[2] Mind-Wandering,[3][4] Memory,[5] Creativity, and Emotion.
Schooler is also known for his sometimes controversial research on topics such as Anomalous Cognition and the decline effect.
[6] Schooler studied psychology at Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, where he graduated cum laude with B.A.
In 2007 Schooler left UBC to join the faculty at the University of California, Santa Barbara where he is presently a Distinguished Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences.
