Beaudry was educated at the Collège de Montréal where he was highly proficient in languages and the exact sciences.
He entered the legal field as a law clerk for Côme-Séraphin Cherrier and became a lawyer in 1838.
This court, presided over by Sir Louis-Hippolyte la Fontaine, was involved with changes to the land tenure seigneurial system in Lower Canada.
In 1859 Beaudry began his most important work on a commission for the codification of laws which had been created in 1857.
After his death in 1876, he was entombed at the Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery in Montreal.
