In 1961 served as head of the Israeli delegation to the United Nations Conference on Diplomatic Intercourse and Immunities, held in Vienna.
Linton was a personal friend of Israel's first President, Chaim Weizmann, whom he had known in England.
Linton disapproved of the Israeli reprisal policy against civilians in neighboring Arab countries.
He was also very temperamental, which was the result of the mistrust shown towards him by his superiors in the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
