Joseph-Amand Passerat (born 30 April 1772, at Joinville, France; died 30 October 1858 in Tournai, Belgium) was a French Redemptorist.
[1] Passerat was driven from the seminary, imprisoned, and forced to serve in Napoleon's army from 1788 to 1792.
Later with great difficulty owing to the circumstances of the times he established houses outside of Poland.
While thus engaged (1820–48) he founded houses in Bavaria, Prussia, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Portugal, Holland, and England.
[5] His spiritual writings were approved by theologians on 9 August 1896, and his cause was formally opened on 13 May 1901, granting him the title of Servant of God.
