Joseph Slater Jr.

Joseph Slater (17 June 1782 – 25 February 1837) was a British portrait painter and draughtsman.

Born in Wandsworth, London, Joseph Slater was a son of Joseph Slater of Bromley (1750–1805), portraitist and decorator and Ann (born Wane).

[3] Slater worked predominantly in pencil, crayons and watercolor.

His other brother Michael Atwell Slater (died 1842) was a Royal Navy officer, a captain, a member of The Royal Geographical Society and an explorer of the coasts of England and Scotland.
